Road Trip with the Kids for the day

Sunny March morning, it is time for a little road trip with the kids in Provence. The local national road from Manosque to Puyloubier is a lovely road to take, “la route de Marseille” going past beautiful fields, hills, a view of the snow tip mountains and the Roman style “La Durance”. Great for a photo stop.

On the way we decided to stop at a random picnic area where we could munch on our baguettes and cheese. The kids were able to have a short break from sitting in their seats and just enjoy the silence of the birds tweeting and André practicing his vocal cords.

Time to head of on the winding roads, going past the cute little town of Pourrières. Through this route you will also get some amazing views of the Sainte Victoire.

From here we decided to head to Puyloubier where we went to see the Légion Etrangère. We were lucky enough to see a practice of their famous slow march.

For Kiara and André the highlight of the visit were the sheeps! and many of them. Kiara was quite keen to take a sheep home with us. However we tried to explain that it probably was not going to be a good idea to sit with a sheep in our car. We had a nice, relaxing walk in the fields where the Légion Etrangère were training. There is also a place where you can stop for a drink to cool down if it is a hot day and a little museum to visit. Overall a great little spontaneous day out.
